Desire to landscape with rocks, rockhound trip to Squamish river/spit

I took a trip to the spit area in Squamish, where high tide still affects the mouth of the river area. There’s a gravel bar that’s easy to access and I love all the beautiful quartz that washes up. I picked up a few big pieces, I just need places to put them!

The rocks were too silty this time to see much. Earlier in the summer, I came here during the rain and the ground was positively glowing. There is just a ton of quartz and green, orange rocks here.

Quartz, these pieces are bigger than they appear. I like the big round ones.

Quartz crystals all meshed up in there. One thing I like about quartz for landscaping is it doesn't need rain to look good.

I didn’t come home with much today though. It ended up being more of just a hang out in nature. I picked up a few green rocks and some big pieces of quartz.

Seal alarmed me. Think they were fishing for salmon.

I’ve got a whole lot of Flowerstone that I don’t think is too good for lapidary work, but the flowers are huge, very well defined and look great when wet (though can be almost invisible when dry – just looks like a grey rock).

These guys. I found a large number of big boulders of them all in one spot. I think they would make better landscaping rocks than anything.

That’s all I’ve got for now. Go out and rockhound in the rain, best time to do it.
